Spring-fever hits us Wisconsinites well before we experience any true and lasting signs of spring. Winters here are long. Ruthless may be a better description, actually. Those first few mild days have us craving lighter and brighter foods, we fire up the grill and even wear shorts (yeah, you know who you are) even though it hasn’t reached 50 degrees.
The smell of charcoal has my boys buzzing about dinner. The neighbor kids even yelled the other day, “hey your mom is grilling up STEAKS!” Spring Cut Cattle Co. steaks nonetheless, wink, wink. I think they were hoping for an invite.
The flavor I crave immediately as we turn the page into this season is LEMON. I begin almost every morning with a super nutrient-dense smoothie studded with one of my Wellmade Restorative superfoods blends I created last year.
These blends are simple combinations of superfoods that are paired together and geared towards specific systems in the body. Skin health, gut health and immune support.
The skin health blend, named Fortify, boasts a healthy dose of collagen to support your skin, tissues, ligaments and joints and contains 11 grams of protein. The blend also contains flax and hemp seeds which provide omega 3’s which we know are so important for our brain and heart health. Turmeric rounds out the ingredient list as not only is this healing food aimed towards calming inflammation, but it also reduces redness from blemishes.
I hear all too often from folks that they are “not smoothie fans.” 99% of the time they have not tried a Wellmade Restorative smoothie recipe which are carefully developed to not only taste amazing, but provide a balance of healthy fats, protein, fiber and will keep your energy steady and your belly full for hours
Jump into spring by starting your day with this refreshing and energizing lemon smoothie bowl and round out the evening by grilling up Spring Cut Cattle Co. grass-fed and grass-finished beef. I personally recommend the filet, but the t-bones take a close second. You really can’t go wrong!
Sending Wellness Wishes!
